Description: A design/build project with JE Dunn Construction for a new battalion headquarters consisting of apparatus bay, communications center, kitchen, day room, sleeping facilities, and weight room.
Role in the project: Construction administration services.

Union Bank Branch
Lee's Summit, Missouri
Client: Union Bank
Completion: 2005
Approximate construction cost: $1 million
Description: A new branch bank in suburban Lee's Summit consisting of a drive through, teller stations, bank vault, safety deposit boxes, offices, and conference room.
Role in the project: Assisted with the drawings and prepared all technical specifications during the construction documents phase. Consulted during construction of the facility.

King Estate Winery Visitor's Center
Lorane, Oregon
Client: King Estate Winery, LLP

Approximate construction cost: $3 million
Description: A new visitor's center was constructed adjacent to the winery in order to accommodate the growing number of visitors. It consisted of lobby and retail space, two commercial kitchens, wine-tasting room, private wine-tasting room, meeting space, office, and patio with wood-burning fireplace.
Role in the project: Assisted with the design development and construction document phases of the project which included coordination with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing; building code and ADA review; review of technical specifications; contract preparation for the general contractor; and early construction administration support.

KCI Economy Parking Lot
Kansas City, Missouri

Completion: 2004
Approximate construction cost: $2.5 million (for architectural components)
Description: In order to alleviate the crowded existing satellite parking lot, the Aviation Department set out to build a new parking facility that would accommodate current parking needs and allow for future expansion. The project consisted of three new parking lots containing 15,000 parking spaces with 32 bus shelters, a new toll plaza, and new canopied entrances and exits.
Role in the project: Overall project management, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration. Managed the project through all phases of design and construction in addition to preparing the drawings; coordinated civil, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical; coordination and review of the technical specifications; code and ADA analysis; assisted in the bidding and negotiation phases; and provided full construction administration services.

KCI Parking and Bus Operations Office Building

Description: The new office building needed to accommodate two separate and distinct functions: the offices for the city's bus operations employees and offices for parking operations that are contracted out to a private company. The primary spaces include offices, conference rooms, training room, break rooms, locker room, repair shop, storage, and restrooms.
Role in the project: Project management, design development, construction documents, and construction administration. Oversaw the design development and construction document phases of the project that included coordination with civil, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical; coordination and review of technical specifications; assisted with bidding and negotiation; and full construction administration services.

Hillcrest Community Center
Kansas City, Missouri
Client: City of Kansas City, MO, Parks and Recreation Department
Completion: 1995
Approximate construction cost: $1.5 million
Description: Kansas Citians passed a bond issue to provide six new community centers in the city. This community center was the first constructed and consisted of meeting spaces, commercial kitchen, offices, restrooms, and a gymnasium with two basketball courts and elevated running track. The KCMO One Percent for Art initiative applied to the project; the art for this project consisted of custom fireplace tools for the wood-burning fireplace.
Note: This project was done in collaboration with Helix/Architecture + Design (formerly Wiedeman Architects).

King Estate Winery

Description: Barrel-vault storage, grape-crush facility, bottling facilities, two fermentation facilities, office tower, wine storage tower, commercial kitchen, and other miscellaneous support spaces.
Role in the project: Construction documents on the very last phases of the work which included adding an elevator and finishing additional office space in the office tower.
